Black Friday: The Most American of Holidays

By Keith • Nov 21st, 2008 • Category: Humor/Editorial, Lead Story

When two holidays fall so close together, you have to be ready for the next day as well. And even though my stomach is more concerned with the Turkey and the stuffing and the gravy, and the football, there is a little spot in the back of my head that every year debates “Am I going to go to the store Friday? Am I crazy? Or will I just be lazy?”

Talk Turkey: A Shibow Thanksgiving

By Sybil • Nov 18th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial

Yep, your favorite Indian (Indian as opposed to Native American) is back to explain why you should all love this very American occasion. Thanksgiving was, is, and ever shall be my absolute favorite holiday. No multi-colored eggs that rot in obscure areas of your home before anyone finds them (I’ll discuss the family Easter Egg [...]

At the New York AAVR Magazine offices, we’ve noticed a buzz about a new destination. A grand destination. An exciting destination. A destination so popular, it even gets covered on the news.
We were told it is majestic, awe inspiring, and affordable – a perfect travel spot. So, AAVR Magazine sent two intrepid reporters on a [...]

Five Months Working at Subway

By Keith • Jul 18th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial

For a short time in my life, I worked at Subway. Not the store itself building sandwiches for people, but at the head office located in Milford, CT. And to be technical, the company is actually called Doctor’s Associates Inc., and is incorporated in Florida.

6 Ways to Prepare Your Article For Digg Success

By Justin Colby • Jul 7th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial, Lead Story

For our readers who might not know what Digg.com is, it is what is known as a “social news” site. It is intended to be a forum where users submit content that they think is interesting, (they “Dig” it) and other users vote on those stories based on how relevant or interesting it is. Over time, Digg has expanded past their original tech focus and is a general-interest site.

Wedding Planning Advice - Debrief

By Keith • Jun 24th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial

When I last wrote, I was preparing for my wedding. I wrote a somewhat lengthy article about wedding planning. Truth is, it wasn’t long enough. I suppose there is a reason why there are books written about how to plan the perfect day. But let me stop and correct myself right [...]

Cold Feet vs. Being Anxious

By Keith • May 30th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial

I know this is a departure from what I usually write about on AAVR, but honestly, I can’t think about much else right now. Yes, I do have a countdown going on. In fact, because I am such a geek, as soon as we set the date, I created a countdown on my Google Home Page, so every day I know just how close to the wedding I am.

Musical Mates: I Wanna Rock With U

By Sybil • May 28th, 2008 • Category: Featured Stories, Humor/Editorial, Lead Story, Uncategorized

So I’m one of those awful people who likes to laugh at bubbly, elated, [shameful] celebrities who rave endlessly about their new found true loves, only to have these same significant others suddenly leave them for the nanny, the manny, rehab, etc. Schadenfreude, meet Shibow.

Don’t Stop Believin’

Calls are coming from all over for Hillary to step down. I say double down and lets play ball.

Sybil Wars: Shibow’s Search for Love

By Sybil • Apr 25th, 2008 • Category: Humor/Editorial

The recent season finale of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels had me rolling, hurling and thinking. Now, that last reaction had me shocked, as this show is designed to kill souls, dreams and brain power. It’s not designed to encourage any sort of deep, philosophical contemplation. Oh, but it did.
The network once known for [...]
