Obama: The Blackberry Addiction

Our new commander in chief may have more in common with the everyday man that Bush ever had, an addiction to technology. At the forefront of that techno list is his faithful crack blackberry. Some people don’t see what the big deal is whether or not our president should be allowed to keep it. Well, let us think about the reasons why he can’t.
1) Wireless phone transmissions can be easily intercepted. We don’t want the launch codes being transmitted over a network where any half ass terrorist can intercept them.
2) E-mail is also at high risk of being intercepted.
Well, there are probably more reasons not to have it, but after just typing those two things, we don’t need anymore reasons. Our nations security could be at risk if Verizon Wireless fails to secure his phone call. And even if they are the largest network, I don’t want them protecting my freedom.
Now for the reasons that he should have a Blackberry, or at least some device.
1) Always up to date. During the campaign he was glued to his Blackberry, and if you think about it, this is a good thing. To have the leader of the free world always connected to news sources. Reading first hand what people are saying without the spin of his Whitehouse aides.
2) We don’t have time for to go through withdrawal, there are more important issues. This may not sound serious, but it is. For those of you who are like me, iPhone at the ready, high speed Internet at home and at work. Constant connection to what is happening in the world. Now, take that away for a day, a half a day, an hour (while sleeping doesn’t count). If you are like me, you start to go crazy. The country has a lot of problems right now and President Obama needs all of his strength to deal with that, not is Blackberry addiction.
Good news is that they are letting him keep it, but there are restrictions on it, and he will not be conducting peace talks on it. But in a sense, it’s weird that this is the first time it is becoming an issue. I mean, this is the first time the President is going to have a laptop on his desk, and have a weekly YouTube address. The technology of our President is behind, and it’s about time that the leader of the free world, and what is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries finally starts to use those tools while in office.
President Obama, I hope that you have fun with your Blackberry, and your new laptop, and your new office on wheels. I also hope that with these toys tools, you will be able to perform your job more quickly and with greater efficiency, and start getting this country back on track.

That’s unacceptable. Macs never used to be quite like that. I am seasoned enough to think back to the very first one that even had mouse support
